Why We Chose Thai Visa Express
Tony Martin's passport went through Thai Visa Express over the Christmas period, and in January 2026 he wrote: "No hassles, no trips to Bangkok. Passport was back in 3 weeks." The agency, founded in 2009, works from an office on Soi Buakhao in Pattaya under its British owner, Paul Aslett.
Of the 171 written reviews, 55 mention a passport, most of them British. Applications go out from Pattaya by courier and EMS: Brian McMahon, in Phuket under travel restrictions in 2021, posted his old passport and had the new one at his door in under four weeks. John Gamlin reckoned in February 2024 that doing it himself would have meant "two trips to Bangkok and overnight stays" and cost "well over twice as much as they charged". His renewal took three weeks, though he advises applying at least three months ahead.
Laurence Harding applied for first UK passports for his two sons and had only to "copy and sign my documents, hand them in and let the staff do the rest"; they came within five weeks, he wrote in January 2025. Fifteen written reviews concern a child's British passport, most often a first one. In 2023, when the Liverpool passport office asked for more information on his children's first passports, a client who signed himself Chris wrote that Paul's team supplied it quickly, and that the front office translated his documents while he waited.
Sixteen written reviews concern settlement, spouse or partner visas, nearly all for the UK. Nick March's partner had been refused a visa before the pandemic. Paul requested the old application, since the previous supplier had apparently destroyed its file, and "only submitted the application when he was happy that all relevent information and documentation had been provided". She had her visa when March wrote in June 2023. Four reviewers describe paying only on success, which Hywel Breeze liked in 2025 because Paul "doesn't waste his own time or yours trying to do the impossible."
In 2022 Thomas Crook wrote that Paul "drove 50km out of his way after 6pm" to fetch an application receipt VFS had been slow to send, so the driver could collect Crook's passport the next day. Paul is named in about half of the written reviews; the front-office staff, Pik and Ying, appear from 2018 to 2025. Stephen Moore wrote in 2018 of "a great Thai lady", Pee Ying, who talks Thai applicants through the requirements and goes with them to Bangkok for medicals. Keith Warren thanked "Paul, Pik, and Ying" in November 2023 for a two-week passport renewal, adding that the agency had renewed his Thai retirement visa and re-entry permit "for several years".
Two of the written reviews are negative. In 2019 one client wrote that the agency wanted 4,000 baht for his visa, while another office did it fast for 2,500 baht, and in 2022 another found the office disorganised. Two otherwise happy clients add a caveat. Alan Clarke was pleased with his passport in 2020 but was told nothing about delivery or timing, and when he asked, "the reply was almost as if I should know already." Stephen Moore, in the same 2018 review that praised Ying, suggested clients make sure "things are clear and written as he is super busy".
Reviews have thinned out lately: 19 in 2025 and 11 so far in 2026, every one of this year's at five stars. The latest, in October, came from Damien Marsh, a first-time client who had been hesitant: "they done really well would definitely recommend."
- 55 of the 171 written reviews mention a passport, mostly British, with applications sent from Pattaya by courier and EMS.
- Fifteen concern a child's British passport, most often a first one.
- Nine reviewers came after a refusal or a poor experience with another agency, and four paid only on success.
- Owner Paul Aslett is named in about half the written reviews; front-office staff Pik and Ying appear in reviews from 2018 to 2025.
- None of the 82 reviews posted since 2023 is negative.
